Dear John, As part of AFSC’s emergency response team in Gaza, I want to express my gratitude to all who have donated this year to support our efforts. I see the difference it makes every day.
Will you donate now to help meet urgent needs and support AFSC’s worldwide work for peace? Every gift makes a difference, and now through midnight on December 31, an anonymous donor will match your donation up to $200,000.
In Gaza, donations from people like you have helped us reach more than 1,000,000 people with humanitarian relief over the past year, including food, water, hygiene kits, blankets, school supplies, and activities for children — like Bana.
Bana once lived safely in Gaza City. But when a bombing destroyed her house, Bana remained trapped under the rubble for an entire day, uncertain if she would survive. Her older brother was killed, and her mother and sister severely injured. Eventually, Bana was taken to the southern part of the Gaza Strip, where she lived with her father and younger brother in a simple tent.
As part of our educational intervention for displaced children, we gave Bana and her younger brother a small gift—a bag filled with stationery and a toy. We hoped to bring a smile to her once cheerful face, which reflects deep sorrow. Bana is just one among thousands of children who have suffered in this war, each story carrying pain that words cannot describe. Your support can help more children like her.
In dozens of communities across the U.S. and around the world, AFSC works for a world where everyone has access to food and other basic needs. We work to end oppression and protect human rights and dignity. And we work to build conditions for just and lasting peace.
Please take advantage of the matching gift offer. Your gift will go twice as far today.
In peace, |
