Toyota has developed a carbon neutral strategy delivering accelerated cost and CO2 reduction.

This exclusive, free workshop, valued at around £600 per person, provides a rare opportunity to experience a practical demonstration and shop floor observation with Toyota Energy Specialists and includes an overview of their strategic approach to decarbonisation and energy cost management. Aiming to show how to demonstrate decarbonisation and competitiveness.

On the day you will observe energy improvement challenges and solutions in a manufacturing environment and real-life energy reduction demonstration through a tour and observation of the Burnaston plant.

Design Foundations Round 6

Competition opens: Monday 4 November 2024
Competition closes: Wednesday 15 January 2025 11:00am

The aim of this competition is to help businesses use people centred and systemic design methods to develop new or significantly improved products, services, places or business models.

People centred design – taking into account the motivations, behaviours and lived experiences of the people who will be involved with or affected by the project.

Systemic design methods – these include social, technical and environmental systems and how they influence your design.

Projects need to do one or more of the following:

  • Identify new opportunities to innovate, and plan how to respond to them
  • Generate new ideas in response to a known need or opportunity
  • Improve existing innovative ideas

Projects can focus on one or more of the following:

  • Net zero
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Other emerging or advanced digital technologies
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Food and agriculture (except primary production)

This competition is open to collaborations only. To lead a project, an organisation must be a UK registered business of any size. To collaborate with the lead, an organisation must be a UK registered business of any size, academic institution, charity, not-for-profit, public-sector organisation, or research and technology organisation.

Help to Grow: Management Course

The Help to Grow Management Course at Nottingham Business School (NBS) is a practical training course delivered by world-class business schools and accredited by the Small Business Charter. This course is 90% funded by the Government and supports business owners and senior managers of small and medium-sized businesses in boosting their performance, resilience, and long-term growth.

This 12-week course covers 12 core modules, which are key to making every business successful. The programme is designed to allow participants to complete it alongside full-time work with a time commitment of 3 - 4 hours per week and doesn't require you to have any previous education or training.

From the beginning of the course, you will start to build a Growth Action Plan and identify any changes. By the end of the course, you will have a full, unique plan tailored to the challenges you face, ready to be implemented within your business.
