Dear John, As 2024 draws to a close, I'm filled with gratitude for the incredible experiences and opportunities this year has brought. It's been a year of learning and growth, both personally and in my work advocating for change. Earlier this year, I ran for Congress in the Democratic primary. While the outcome wasn't what we'd hoped for, the journey itself was transformative. I was deeply inspired by the way our community united around shared goals of justice, opportunity, and safety for all. This year also marked the first anniversary of my memoir, The Bodies Keep Coming, which was recognized as a finalist for the prestigious Carr P. Collins Award. Sharing my story has allowed me to amplify the voices of patients, colleagues, and the communities I've served, shedding light on critical issues like gun violence and racism in medicine. As I look ahead to 2025, I'm excited to embrace new opportunities to make a difference and build on the lessons and connections from this year. I'm energized and ready to continue the fight for a better future. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and restful holiday season – and hope for the year ahead. Onward, Brian |
