Taking Care of Business in my Second Term
For the past four years, I've worked hard to improve quality of life for all residents and visitors in Miami-Dade – from making it more affordable to live here, to expanding mobility, prioritizing public safety, and protecting our environment. It's the honor of my life to serve as your mayor – and I am deeply grateful and humbled that I get to do so for four more years!
Last month, I was installed for my second term. Thank you to all who made it possible – my county team, volunteers, and you, our residents who placed your trust in me.
Now, the work continues! I launched

I'm also making important changes in my administration to continue streamlining County government to best serve our community. These include creating separate departments of transit and public works as part of our commitment to mobility – a change that will go to the Board of County Commissioners for approval; creating a centralized department of People and Internal Operations to consolidate and streamline administrative functions; and renaming the Department of Housing and Community Development which will report directly to me.

Learn more about these changes .Welcoming New County Leadership
On Dec. 11, I was proud to join the installation of new Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners Anthony Rodriguez and Vice Chairman Kionne McGhee. They are both proven leaders and dear colleagues who I know will continue to work hard to deliver for our community! We also celebrated the installation of Commissioners Oliver Gilbert, Keon Hardemon, Eileen Higgins, Raquel Regalado, Roberto Gonzalez and Rene Garcia beginning their next term.
In January, we also welcome five new constitutional officers: Clerk of the Court and Comptroller Juan Fernandez Barquin, Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez, Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia, and Property Appraiser Tomas Regalado. I look forward to working with each of them in this new capacity and ensuring continuity of excellent public services.
Congratulations to all. Together we will chart a course for a bright future for Miami-Dade.

The Latin GRAMMY Awards came back home!
Miami-Dade County, alongside the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, was an official host of the 25th Annual Latin GRAMMY(R) Awards! As the capital of Latin music in the U.S., we were proud to celebrate this homecoming, bringing approximately $50 million in local spending and highlighting our role in the growing Latin music industry.
To give the Latin GRAMMY Awards a warm welcome, we teamed up with local influencer Lucy Lopez and Latin GRAMMY nominated artists for ‘What Moves Miami,’ a special video series taking place on our very own Miami-Dade transit system!

Record-breaking Investment in Infrastructure
For the first time, our Water and Sewer Department (WASD) surpassed the milestone $600 million mark by executing $622 million worth of essential infrastructure upgrades in just a year! Under my leadership, WASD has accelerated critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects designed to protect and preserve the wellbeing of people and the environment, from addressing aging infrastructure to upgrading facilities. All in all, we are undertaking the largest investment in water infrastructure in the history of Florida!
Milestones in Affordable Housing

Miami-Dade County Public Housing and Community Development (PHCD) was proud to provide $2,500,000 from Surtax funding and 30 Project Based Vouchers.
A More Plastic-Free 305
On Nov. 20, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners voted in favor of eliminating single-use plastics and Styrofoam at County facilities like Miami International airport, PortMiami and County offices. Thanks to the leadership of Commissioner Eileen Higgins, our county will now join a growing number of regions moving away from single-use plastics, which reduces pollution in our environment and waterways. As your Water Warrior, I'm proud to support this critical effort.

ASD teams up with the Miami HEAT
Catching a Miami HEAT game soon? Now, at all Kaseya Center concession stands and HEAT retail locations, you can opt to donate $1 to Miami-Dade County Animal Services! I’m so happy the HEAT has picked Animal Services as the charitable organization for their ‘ADD $1’ campaign this NBA season. These funds will supplement free & low-cost spay/neuter and microchipping to help control overpopulation, support the Wellness on Wheels (WOW) Mobile Veterinary Clinic, and encourage more people to adopt a deserving shelter pet!
