John, we’ve sent you emails in the past about endangered whales – and we have an important update on what SEEC Members are doing to protect them.

SEEC Co-Chair Doris Matsui and SEEC Member Jared Huffman have just introduced the Whale CHARTS Act, which will authorize $3 million to focus on protecting eight endangered species of whales. And what’s more, it’s bipartisan!

SEEC Members are stepping up to protect our endangered species and advancing the research we need to push forward. Your support made this possible – please consider chipping in so we can keep taking action! [[link removed]]

Two Republicans joined SEEC Members in introducing the Whale CHARTS Act, which just goes to show that we can still reach across the aisle and make progress on our key priorities – no matter what we’re up against. And wherever there’s an opportunity to advocate for endangered species and our precious oceans, SEEC Members will seize it!

This new bill requires NOAA fisheries to conduct new research on whales to provide more accurate information about their core feeding and calving habitats, as well as their migration patterns. It authorizes $3 million for this research, paying special attention to sperm and baleen whales which play crucial roles in our ocean’s biodiversity and food chains.

Supporting climate champions in Congress is key to ensuring that we are proactive when it comes to research and conservation – learning more about our vast oceans and marine life is going to empower us to do just that. We’re crossing our fingers that the Whale CHARTS Act moves forward, and we’ll keep you posted!

It’s only with the contributions of pro-climate supporters like you that SEEC Members can stay in office and continue doing this important work. Can you chip in now to show them that we have their back and support the work they’re doing? [[link removed]]

Thanks to your help in 2024, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 119th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand.
