Dear John,
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, almost 700 people were dying every day in the U.S. because of the crisis of poverty. And because of this nation’s high tolerance for death, as long as those who are dying are poor and people of color, the national response to this pandemic has only further exposed the country’s distorted morality.
The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is launching the “Stay in Place Stay Alive, Organize, and Don't Believe the Lies!” campaign to raise a moral cry for non-cooperation with the dangerous and reckless policies to ease social distancing restrictions and reopen the economy instead of providing real relief. #StayAlive
Today is our Digital Day of Action and we are taking action on the national, state, and local level to pressure elected officials to meet our demands and remind the nation that we will not cooperate with policies to reopen the economy at the expense of our health and lives. Today we stand will all people across the nation who are choosing to not cooperate with this system. Read on for details!

Calling faith communities to #tollingtogether action
We are calling on faith leaders, faith communities, houses of worship to help us remember and honor the precious lives that we have lost and will continue to lose during this pandemic. During the next few weeks we are asking faith leaders and faith communities to join us in symbolically marking these deaths through tolling church bells, blowing the Shofar, reciting a prayer, or however your tradition ritually breaks a silence and/or marks the passing of life. The United States is the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic; we have lost tens of thousands of precious lives, and our elected officials are making decisions that will cost countless more.
By taking action today, you are reminding the nation that America cannot go back to normal. We must stay in place, stay alive, organize, and build power to demand that everyone will have the right to all that is essential to survive and thrive, both during this pandemic and beyond.
Forward together, not one step back!
