Kamala Harris was very confident that she’d beat Donald Trump. She didn’t even think she needed a key union endorsement that every previous 21st-century Democrat nominee had received.
“I’ll win with or without you,” she smugly told Teamsters boss Sean O’Brien during a pre-election meeting.
At the time, O’Brien was undecided on how he’d advise his members to vote. Harris’s pitch didn’t exactly sway him to her side.
He ultimately opted against endorsing the cocky vice president, and you know what happened next. It was a resounding, humiliating, and beautifully poetic defeat. Looking back, this story serves as a hilarious lesson on the dangers of hubris and taking things for granted. Maybe Harris would have bothered running a coherent campaign if she realized she had to earn the presidency. We’ll never know.

Sean O'Brien tells Tucker:
“The people that we were talking about, the corporate elitists and everybody else, those are the people that the Democrats are falling in love with. Those are the people they serve instead of the middle class the way it used to be fifty years ago.”
