Donald Trump reportedly gave Doug Burgum a singular mission in nominating the governor of oil-rich North Dakota to lead the Department of the Interior -- an agency that oversees a half-billion acres of federal land and vast areas offshore -- “Drill baby drill.”

“We look forward to the next four years where we believe that there’s going to be a shift towards innovation over regulation and an opportunity for North Dakota and our mineral owners to be able to more quickly and easily get permitting to access those natural resources for our country,” Burgum said in his final address to the North Dakota state legislature.
