John,
For the past few years, Chris Coons has made no secret of the fact that he wants to be Secretary of State. And recently, articles have been written about the likelihood that Chris Coons would be chosen as Secretary of State under a Biden presidency.
I’m running for Senate to serve the six-year term, full stop. If Chris Coons plans to jockey for the position of Secretary of State, he has no business running for a Senate seat that he will abandon almost instantly.
Delaware voters deserve to know whether Chris Coons will serve out his Senate term before casting their ballots in the September primary election.
And let’s be honest: whether in the Senate or in the cabinet, Chris Coons’ foreign policy is hawkish, imperialist, and short-sighted. It’s disqualifying.
Coons himself even admits that he’s a hawk, saying that “within the Democratic Party, I tend to skew a little more towards the value of hard power.”
Chris Coons’ philosophy is that the US should exert military and economic power over other countries to make them conform to “western ideals.”
We need a foreign policy that centers diplomacy and people’s right to self-determination, not war and imperialism.
