Folks, As New Jerseyans prepare for their holiday travels and get ready to spend time with their loved ones, they are holding their breaths, crossing their fingers, and making sure they have a plan B in case their train or bus gets delayed — or worse — never shows up at all. Here in New Jersey, reliable transportation is essential to our economy and communities. And still, we’ve all experienced unacceptable delays, congestion, and service breakdowns in our transportation system. We deserve better.
In Congress, Mikie has made it a top priority to improve transit service for New Jerseyans and hold Amtrak and NJ Transit accountable for breakdowns in service. She successfully brought our tax dollars back to New Jersey to fund the Gateway Project — the largest federal transit investment in U.S. history — which will build new rail tunnels under the Hudson River to double train capacity between New Jersey and New York and create thousands of good-paying union jobs. As governor, Mikie will work to upgrade our aging infrastructure to combat congestion. She’ll build relationships with local and federal partners to help keep transportation on schedule and improve service and reliability.
