Hi John,
We don’t know what next year will bring, but we have an idea. Trump has talked about wanting to “suspend democracy” on “Day One.” He’s nominated Christian Nationalists like Pete Hegseth who believe the government should be a tool of religious control.
And he’s emboldened extremists in some states to propose shocking policies that would destroy our secular public schools and turn them into centers of religious indoctrination.
This isn’t our America. And you can bet the Center for Freethought Equality is going to fight back.
Remember, it was the Congressional Freethought Caucus - which we helped Jared Huffman and Jamie Raskin start - that led the House Democratic response to Project 2025.
We’ve gone from one state representative identifying with our community to, for the first time as of this election, over seventy-seven.
We’ve successfully passed bills to destroy special privileges for religious organizations, like demanding judges be required to inform defendants of secular options for court-ordered drug and alcohol treatment.
The CFE team is small but mighty. You can trust us to punch above our weight and deliver for secular priorities.
But here’s the thing: we’re only as strong as you allow us to be.
Our goal? To hire an additional staff member who can work with Ron, our Political and PAC Manager, to multiply our work fighting for humanist values and against religious totalitarianism, at every level of government.
Your support will make this - and all of our programs - possible. Thank you.
Best,
Fish Stark
Executive Director
