Hi John,

Michelle here. I oversee all of DxE’s chapters outside the Bay Area as the lead of our International Coordination team. One of the best parts of my role is witnessing activists from around the world take bold action for animals. Let me show you what that looks like by taking you through a day in my life.

One morning in early October 2024, I opened my phone to see a message from organizers with DxE Paris. *They had just successfully rescued dozens of hens from an egg farm!* They were sending me behind-the-scenes photos of the rescue and images of the hens experiencing freedom for the first time.

I was overjoyed knowing that these individuals will get to live the lives they always deserved, and grateful that I had the chance to play a tiny role in it. I’ve been coordinating with and coaching DxE Paris since 2023, when I met two incredible women at the Animal Liberation Conference who would return back to France to join the organizing team. *And this year, they collectively conducted 12 investigations and rescued over 250 animals!*

I got right to work collaborating with the social media team to edit a video of the rescue ( [link removed] ). At the same time, I was coordinating all the final details with close to a dozen DxE organizers from across Latin America who were about to attend a brand new conference called Encuentro Por Los Animales, which was taking place in my hometown of Mexico City. I worked with them to book flights and housing, get all the tabling supplies ready, and plan a protest for the end of the conference.

I felt a bit stressed about all the final logistics, but I didn’t have much time to dwell on that because I was also working on a critical aspect of the Measure DD campaign, the ballot measure to ban factory farms in Berkeley. My role was ensuring you could not go anywhere in Berkeley without seeing our “Yes on DD” yard signs and posters. This involved planning many postering events, keeping track of all the places we’d already hit, and ensuring that we had exactly the right amount of materials.

We got thousands of yard signs, posters, and stickers up... *and we ended up winning at the polls with 62%! Berkeley became the first city in the entire country to ban factory farms.*

I’m so proud that I was a part of that effort and honored that my role is to enable people from all over the world to achieve historic victories for the movement. And I’m excited about some major changes we are working on to make the DxE network even stronger and give more people the opportunity to participate and get plugged into our lifesaving work.

*Compassion knows no borders. From Paris to Mexico City to Berkeley, we are changing the world for animals.* *Please join us by making a donation today.* ( [link removed] )

In solidarity,

Michelle
