John,
When we invest in public health, we invest in the future of our movement.
2024 proved that when we center the voices of those most impacted—especially those of us living with HIV—we can drive meaningful, lasting change. Public health is deeply intertwined with our movement for equality.
Through meaningful partnerships and increased engagement, we’ve built something powerful, and as we look toward 2025, the challenges and opportunities ahead will demand even more.
Will you continue to stand with us to end this epidemic? [[link removed]]
What we accomplished in 2024...
* Launched the Vanguard HIV Policy Change Makers Fellowship: In partnership with organizations like FreeState Justice in Maryland, BlaqOut in Missouri, and the Arkansas Black Gay Men’s Forum, three fellows have already made significant contributions to the field, including informing our most successful virtual HIV training series to date, which reached 70+ advocates across 37 states.
* Amplified State Efforts: We led or contributed to 33 impactful trainings, panels, workshops, and speaking engagements AND regranted over $167,000 to state partners—primarily in the South—to support HIV advocacy, thanks to partners like Gilead Sciences, Merck, and ViiV Healthcare's Positive Action Grant Program.
* Strengthened Internal Leadership: We established the Public Health Policy Department, and I was promoted to Director, deepening our commitment to addressing critical health issues facing our communities.
What’s to come in 2025…
* Fellowship Expansion: We’re growing the Vanguard HIV Policy Change Makers Fellowship to include a fourth partner.
* Doubling Down on State-Based Advocacy: We will increase our virtual training offerings bi-monthly, ensuring greater accessibility and support for all 49 state partners.
* Expanding Our Team: We are hiring a Public Health Policy Senior Strategist to address critical issues like PrEP access in Southern states.
Will you make a tax-deductible gift today to make this a reality in 2025? [[link removed]]
Your support will ensure we can take on a broader range of LGBTQ+ health priorities in 2025, including Medicaid expansion, addressing cancer disparities, and securing stable housing.
Thank you for being a vital part of our shared fight against HIV. [[link removed]]
