Without public lands, we wouldn’t have access to the vast swaths of wilderness that people and wildlife alike depend on to thrive. We wouldn’t have spaces to gather and preserve our shared history and culture. And we wouldn’t have green spaces shielding communities—especially the communities most vulnerable—from the impacts of climate change.
But even with all the important purposes our public lands serve, they’re still under attack. Every day, 6,000 acres of land are lost to real estate development.
We’ve already made substantial progress. We’ve been able to preserve 4 million acres of land, as well as complete over 5,000 parks, trails, and schoolyards across the country. But, Friend, we’re just getting started.
