Friends, I hope you’re enjoying a restful and joyful holiday week with loved ones.
Anne and I are so grateful to be connecting with our kids and extended family this week. In times of uncertainty, spending time with family reminds me why I am committed to this work: I care about our communities, our Commonwealth, and working with others to make the world a brighter, fairer, and more just place for all.
On Christmas, we reflect on the enduring message of a young couple turned away because there was no room for them, only to give birth to their child in a humble stable.
The world is full of families seeking refuge just like that young couple — from war, starvation, addiction, illness, loneliness, violence, depression, climate disaster. Some halfway around the world, and some in our own neighborhoods. The Christmas message challenges us to be innkeepers ourselves amid our brothers and sisters in need: Will we say there’s no room at the inn, or will we work to support them however we can?
As we look to the future, that message is more important than ever before. So this holiday season, while we’re celebrating and relaxing with family, we will also be looking ahead to next year and thinking about the work we can do to live out the true Christmas spirit in 2025 and beyond.
We hope you will join us in these reflections, and have a wonderful holiday with loved ones.
Blessings and thanks from our family to yours!
Tim & Anne
