Hello Partners,
Happy Holidays from everyone here at Families! We have a quick reminder before your festivities commence.
Join Families USA and sign on to our letter to Congressional leadership, sending a clear message on the first day of the 119th Congress that Medicaid is a critical program that millions of families rely on, and it must be protected. Remind them that they were elected to reduce financial burdens for their constituents – not exacerbate health and economic uncertainty by cutting Medicaid funding or reducing access to care. Thank you to the many organizations who have already signed on!
Recent comments by incoming House Energy and Commerce Chairman Brett Guthrie demonstrate how critical it is for our organizations to be unified in defense of Medicaid. Last week, Rep. Guthrie said:
"Making the pledge to say we're going to find $2.5 trillion over 10 years, we're gonna have to, I mean otherwise we're gonna bankrupt the country … I've been a big proponent of per capita allotments" in Medicaid, he said. That refers to an idea also known as per capita caps, a version of which was included in the failed 2017 ACA repeal and replace measure (Axios Pro, December 20).
The deadline to sign on is Friday, January 3 at 10 AM ET. We encourage you to share this letter with your networks!
