You contacted federal officials on a range of crucial issues, including to:
Increase the availability of support services for families impacted by addiction.
Remove barriers to methadone treatment and expand access to addiction care.
Improve insurance coverage for addiction services.
Protect youth from the harms associated with legal addictive substances.
Increase access to harm reduction services.
👍 Highlights of Recent Actions at the Federal Level
SAMHSA removed some of the restrictions on methadone, and there is increasing bipartisan support for allowing methadone to be prescribed by physicians and available at pharmacies.
The Administration finalized regulations to strengthen parity enforcement.
Temporary rules allowing buprenorphine to be prescribed via telehealth were extended.
In addition, federal officials are increasingly talking about the role of families and working to involve them in efforts to address this crisis. There is increasing awareness of the urgent need to protect kids from accessing harmful addictive substances. There was unprecedented support for harm reduction at the federal level.
