Three of the most exciting words of the new Republican-controlled United States Senate are “Chairman Rand Paul.”
Sen. Paul will be chairing a full Senate committee for the first time in his career. And it’s crucial for 2025: the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
The Committee’s chief responsibilities are the Department of Homeland Security and investigative oversight and accountability across the Executive Branch. In other words, the border and the Deep State.
Paul is the perfect man for the job.
A Conservative Legacy
Rand Paul was one of the first candidates the Senate Conservatives Fund endorsed back in 2010. If you remember, Paul ran against a hand-picked disciple of Mitch McConnell in the Republican Primary.
Paul — and those of us who supported him — came under relentless fire from the Republican Establishment. But he won the primary and the general elections in that year of the Tea Party.
An ophthalmologist by training, Rand Paul is the son of former Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul. For almost 14 years, he has pulled the Senate —and the Republican Conference — to the right.
A Fearless Fighter
Rand Paul has left his mark on every issue he has ever taken up, from the size of government to foreign policy to education.
But his finest hour in the Senate — so far! — was probably his long, tenacious fight against Deep State corruption during the Covid-19 pandemic. He was the tip of the spear in Congress challenging the “official” narratives coming out of federal public health agencies: that the virus was naturally created, that government-enforced lockdowns were scientifically grounded, and that masking and vaccines needed to be mandated by the state.
Paul — sometimes all by himself — challenged Dr. Anthony Fauci while the media was still treating him like the Second Coming. He exposed Fauci’s role in “gain-of-function” coronavirus research at the Wuhan lab. He demanded the science behind all the lockdown fanaticism — and proved that it didn’t exist.
Unlike public health agencies, Paul followed the science — and exposed the scam.
The Border and the Deep State
As Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Paul will have the power to subpoena any Executive Branch documents he wants. And because Donald Trump’s appointees will lead federal agencies, those documents will finally be produced!
Chairman Paul will finally get to the bottom of COVID-19’s origins, the Deep State’s politicization of the science, and their shady relationships with Big Pharma.
Paul will also be diving deep into the border crisis. His first hearing, already announced, will be about reinstating President Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy. He plans to expedite the Committee’s consideration of DHS Secretary nominee Kristi Noem.
Of course, Paul’s investigations committee will be a natural fit for the work of President Trump’s new “Department of Government Efficiency,” led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
In just a couple of weeks, one of Congress’s most important committees will be run by one of the most conservative members of the Senate and his experienced, talented conservative staff.
Rand Paul’s chairmanship is an opportunity the Right has never had before. And one of many reasons grassroots conservatives have reason to be excited about what’s ahead in 2025.
