Dear John, We wanted to let you know that, due to circumstances beyond our control, we and our co-hosts unfortunately need to postpone the rally for Happy and Patty originally scheduled for January 11th at the Bronx Zoo. We’ll send a new date as soon as we have one!
Rest assured, January 11th–the International Vigil for Elephants–remains an important opportunity to advocate for Happy and Patty’s release to an elephant sanctuary and the closing of the Bronx Zoo elephant exhibit. No matter where in the world you are, you can join with people around the world on this day not only to mourn the deaths of imprisoned elephants, but also call out the injustice of the lives that they were forced to live–the lives that over 300 elephants in the US and 30,000 elephants worldwide are still being forced to live. Look out for an email in early January with details about how you can participate. If you’re on Facebook, we recommend following the International Vigil for Elephants group now to learn more about the elephants who are being remembered this year.
Here’s to ending elephant captivity in New York City and changing the world for Happy, Patty, and all elephants in 2025. Thank you! Courtney Fern Director of Government Relations, the NhRP
