VOTE MAMA 2024 WRAPPED: Top Moments
Inspired by Spotify, Vote Mama has created our very own “2024 Wrapped” to showcase our top moments of this election cycle!
Broke North Carolina Supermajority:
North Carolina was a critical swing state in this year’s election, with abortion rights hanging in the balance. Trump might have received more votes, but here’s the news that doesn’t get talked about: Democrats BROKE the GOP supermajority in the NC state legislature — with two of our mamas, Beth Helfrich and Woodson Bradley, winning key seats. Now, with Republicans no longer holding the power to override gubernatorial vetoes and Democrat Governor-elect Josh Stein set to take office, our mamas just helped make it A LOT harder for anti-choice extremists to pass harmful legislation.
Protected & Expanded the Michigan Supreme Court Majority:
Vote Mama saw continued success in Michigan this year, where our endorsed moms achieved a stunning 90% win rate! We managed to not only protect but EXPAND the pro-choice majority in the state’s highest court by electing mamas Kimberly Thomas and Kyra Harris Bolden. Kyra’s landslide victory also makes her the FIRST Black woman elected to the Michigan Supreme Court after she received the MOST VOTES of anyone in the state’s history to serve on it. These wins will help ensure that reproductive rights remain legal in this important state.
Made Gains in the Pennsylvania Legislature:
Pennsylvania was a highly targeted wild card heading into this election, where Democrats had a slim one-seat majority in the state House, and Republicans had control of the state Senate with 28 seats. Not only did we BLOCK Republicans from improving on its six-seat advantage, but our mom and former state Rep. Patty Kim flipped a competitive seat from red to blue and became the first Asian American woman elected to the state Senate. Also, thanks to moms like La’Tasha D. Mayes and Mandy Steele, Democrats RETAINED control of the state House, winning back ALL 102 seats in the chamber!
70% Win Rate:
While this year’s national election results were tough for Democrats, especially at the very top of the ticket, our Democratic moms OUTPERFORMED Democratic candidates across the board — in swing states, red-to-blue seats, and competitive races. Where there were dark spots, we made important gains, too. These outcomes validate that the strategic work that Vote Mama is doing is working, and it gives us hope for the future. Vote Mama candidates walked away with a 70% win rate in November.
Here’s a breakdown of our win rates on Election Day in our four target states, as well as our federal win rate:
- Arizona: 91%
- Georgia: 58%
- Michigan: 90%
- Pennsylvania: 67%
- Federal: 70%
200+ Endorsed Candidates:
Vote Mama’s mission is to build the political power of moms by helping them break barriers and run for office — up and down the ballot from School Board to the U.S. Senate. We aim to increase the representation of moms from different backgrounds and walks of life. This year, we were proud to have an impressive slate of OVER 200 endorsed pro-choice mamas running in key races across the country. With nearly 200 candidates on the November ballot, our moms achieved incredible results.
Out of the winners:
- 93 were incumbents
- 29 became the first moms to hold their seat
- 19 were first-time candidates
- 57 were moms of color
- 16 were LGBTQ+ moms
- 10 moms flipped seats from red to blue

Vote Mama protected and expanded the pro-choice state supreme court majority in Michigan, and flipped competitive seats from red to blue. Our work is not stopping. Not now, not ever. VOTE MAMA: 2025 & ONWARD:
After a trying election year, the stakes have never been higher as we face the return of Donald Trump to the White House and a GOP trifecta. However, if we learned one thing in 2024, it’s that our strategy is having a meaningful impact on reshaping the system that is designed to keep moms out of politics.
Democratic mamas can be an important firewall against Trump and the extremist anti-choice, anti-family, anti-democracy agenda. They are the first line of defense in protecting reproductive rights, access to childcare, and education that empowers future generations.
Your continued support is crucial to expanding on our successes and keeping up this monumental work. We rely on grassroots donations to help us identify, support, and elect these extraordinary women who are ready to lead and improve the lives of those in our communities, our schools, and our homes.
We cannot lose focus just because Trump and his extremist allies are gaining control. Instead, we must double down—because the fight to win back the House and the Senate has already begun. And we can’t do this without you.
So please, John: will you stick with us as we bid farewell to 2024 and charge forward? Make a donation to Vote Mama NOW to keep our fight going strong! >>
