As you know, my wife, Carol, prepares a monthly prayer alert. I hope you will share Carol's thoughts with your friends and fellow worshipers. Thank you for taking an interest in her monthly devotion. -- Gary
Here we are just a few days before Christmas. This year’s shortened time period between Thanksgiving and Christmas sure has made life busy the past few weeks, hasn't it? We barely caught our breath after the election when Thanksgiving was upon us, and then Christmas arrives just four weeks later. Makes the head spin!
But amidst the hectic shopping, wrapping, decorating, baking, and card writing, our hearts keep being drawn back to the babe born in a manger in Bethlehem. It was He who was born to die for our sins in an unimaginable gift offering to each who believes. The birth of the Christ child, born in lowly circumstances, would break through time and circumstances to offer each of us the gift of eternal life.
As we mark the holiday with family, friends, festivities, good food, and gifts, let us each be quietly drawn back into the simplicity and enormity of the Christ child's birth, which split time in half. Savor the quiet moments you can, revel in the beautiful Christmas music of old, and offer up words of thanks to the God of the Universe, whose plan gives each of us a choice for all eternity.
May you and those you love enjoy a most Blessed Christmas sprinkled with quiet moments of reflection. And then, it's onward to the exciting days of 2025.
