Dear John, The stakes are higher than ever. The reversal of Roe v. Wade was not the end of the battle—it was only the beginning. Anti-abortion extremists are emboldened now more than ever. Clinics are under threat, women’s access to healthcare is being restricted, and we are witnessing a deliberate attempt to strip us of the right to control our own bodies.
For decades, the Feminist Majority Foundation has been fighting these forces. Thanks to the loyal support of friends like you, our National Clinic Access Project has worked to keep clinics open, to provide legal assistance, and to ensure that women’s rights are defended. In 2024 alone, we secured over $1.5 million in pro-bono legal assistance for independent clinics facing attacks from extremist groups.
But this work, as vital as it is, is far from finished. The attacks are relentless, and if we are not vigilant and financially prepared, we could lose the ground we’ve fought so hard to gain. |
In short, we need your support now more than ever to keep the fight going. Without it, we risk falling back into a place where women’s rights are not only limited but erased entirely. |
Afghanistan: A Glimpse of What Could Be |
If we look beyond our own borders, we see the stark reality of what happens when extremism is allowed to take hold. In Afghanistan, the situation for women is dire. Under the Taliban, women are being erased from public life. They are banned from education, from work, and even from leaving their homes without a male family escort.
The penalties for defiance are severe—public flogging for minor infractions, brutal executions carried out in stadiums in full view of a public forcibly required to attend the atrocities.
The Feminist Majority Foundation has long stood in solidarity with the Afghan women, working with human rights groups to amplify their voices and to demand that the world recognize the Taliban’s actions as an international crime against humanity. We cannot stand idly by while these women are silenced. Their struggle is our struggle. The battle for women’s rights is not one confined to any one country. It is a global battle, a fight that must continue wherever women’s freedoms are under threat.

This is not the time to step back. This is the time to step forward, to be counted, to take action. The work we’re doing here—fighting for reproductive rights, securing the Equal Rights Amendment, standing with women in Afghanistan—is all part of the same fight for equality. But we cannot do it alone. We need your support now more than ever.
With your support, we are planning initiatives to advance gender equality under the several state equal rights amendments. These state-level ERAs are a pillar of strength, fortifying the foundation of our rights and creating a tapestry of protections across the country. The fight is not over -- not as long as there are forces that seek to control women’s bodies, diminish their voices, and erase their rights.
But with your help, we can continue to fight. With your support, we can push forward, refusing to let the forces of extremism win. We hope we can depend on your tax-deductible support as we prepare for 2025. Every dollar you contribute helps us protect women’s rights, keep clinics open, and ensure that women’s voices are heard, not just here, but across the world.
This is a fight we cannot afford to lose. Together, we will win. For Equality, |
