A PERSONAL NOTE
Good morning!
The weather is sunny and cold here in my part of North Carolina today. My local presents are wrapped and under the tree. My more distant gifts have been sent out. All there is left to do is make food and tidy up for guests. This holiday has been pretty low-key for me, but I expect it will still be lovely.
My neighbors all have gorgeous Christmas lights up. I was able to venture outside with some help and see them from the driveway of where I live. It was a nice bit of normalcy, and I really enjoyed it.
My daughters and some friends have showered me with love this holiday season, and it's more appreciated than you can imagine. I'm so lucky to have these good people in my life.
This year, I don't have big New Year's resolutions. In 2025, my plan is to move to an accessible apartment. I dream of being able to get in and out without stairs or broken pavement, sitting on a balcony overlooking any view at all, and doing my own shopping. I know it will happen soon, and for now, I just need to be patient.
Indoors, my life has returned to somewhat normal. I still tire easily after a year off my feet, but I can move around my apartment unaided by mobility devices. The smooth floors and lack of obstacles make it safe to do so. So, I'm slowly getting things organized again and making my life as pleasant as possible with oils in the diffuser, neatly labeled storage, and artsy endeavors. I have a pile of novels to turn to, a comfy place to sit, and a good lamp beside me.
I know this isn't how things will look forever, but it's up to me to
make the most of this time. It's like a hiatus, and one day, things will be different. For now, I'm embracing cozy living and the love I receive from those who surround me.
I hope that your Christmas is wonderful this year!
We're facing threats to our food supply from many different angles: supply chain breakdowns, drought, food facilities being ravaged by fires, skyrocketing inflation, and outright shortages. No longer can we live in the comfort of unthreatened abundance. We're learning exactly how delicate the system really is.
Prepping and putting back supplies is incredibly important but what we're seeing now goes beyond that. You have to be able to produce and acquire more food. You have to be able to put back your harvests to eat during the winter. You have to be able to prepare items that once were as convenient as popping open a can or little plastic container.
You need a paperback copy of How to Feed Your Family No Matter What, our Organic Prepper anthology with ALL of our content about food. You'll get more than 500 pages of content that are all about food when you can't just go to the store and buy whatever
you want.
