Email from Rep. Hudson     Meet Richard | How Can I Help You? | Issues | Media Center | Contact me   Friends, For my family, and likely many of yours, the holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year. Whether it’s decorating our homes or enjoying a meal around the table with cherished loved ones and friends, our festive traditions bring warmth and joy, shining brightly even amidst challenges. As another year draws to a close, House Republicans are getting ready for what will be a very busy and productive new Congress. I have been reflecting on the incredible results we have delivered these past two years since we took the majority. We have been focused on fighting for hardworking families like yours who are struggling because of the Biden-Harris Administration’s failures. Under President Biden and Vice President Harris’ anti-American energy agenda, America’s energy reliability and production has been undermined at every turn, and folks are suffering. By virtually every metric, your cost-of-living has gone up the past few years, and energy prices are at the core of the staggering increase. House Republicans recognized this crisis and laid out a better way. We passed a bill, H.R. 1, which outlines how we can produce more energy in America to lower costs for families across the board, while creating thousands of good-paying jobs. For years, this administration’s open border policies have been a disaster for our country, with record-high numbers of illegal criminals coming into our communities. House Republicans, and the American people, repeatedly called on President Biden and Vice President Harris to fix the mess they created, but they refused to do anything. House Republicans came together and took action to protect you. We passed H.R. 2 - a blueprint to actually secure America’s border, keep our communities safe, and restore law and order again. As the representative of the largest military base in the world, I’m also proud of everything we have accomplished to give our military community the support they deserve. Recently, the House passed the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). I fought hard to ensure this defense spending bill included a pay increase to our troops and more money for housing and quality-of-life investments for our servicemembers and their families. I was also able to include $47 million in additional funding for infrastructure at Fort Liberty/Bragg to better equip our military. It is not a perfect bill, but I am proud of the big wins we secured and will continue fighting to make sure our nation’s heroes are taken care of. I hope you are proud of all my efforts to address the issues that are important to you, your family, and your community. I will always work hard to defend our rights, stand up for our values, and push for common sense in Washington. With the Christmas season upon us, may you enjoy time with loved ones and reflect on what’s most important - our faith, our families, and our freedoms. Let us also take time to remember and pray for all those serving in our nation’s uniform - especially those who are not able to return home to their families this time of year. While we have a lot of work ahead of us to deliver on President Trump’s America First agenda, I look forward to 2025 and will be ready to hit the ground running on day one. Rest assured, we will get our country back on the right track.
