Friend,

During this global health crisis, the economic fallout is especially hurting Alaska’s small businesses. Every day, I hear from small business owners who are doing everything they can to keep their businesses going and keep their employees, hardworking Alaskans, on payroll. A local survey found that one in six Anchorage business owners believe they are at risk of shutting down.

Small businesses make our economy and our communities strong—in Alaska, 99% of businesses are small businesses, and they employ more than 55% of our state’s workforce. But when the federal government started a program to offer relief to small businesses, big corporations used up the funds because DC politicians cut them into the deal.

Unfortunately, politicians like Don Young listened to their corporate donors instead of the people they serve, and Alaska got fewer funds than every other state per capita. And Don Young even voted against the coronavirus oversight committee despite reports that national chains and publicly traded companies have continued taking advantage of a program meant to help small businesses.

Alaskans deserve attentive, independent leaders who put the people in our small businesses above special interests and political parties. Help us make that happen by pitching into our campaign today. secure.actblue.com/donate/bp_may_2020_email?refcode=BLU-AGC-20200520-2-EM

Gratefully,

Alyse
