May is API Heritage Month — a time we take to celebrate and honor the contributions of the Asian American Pacific Islander community.

John:

During such unprecedented times, it is critical to collectively elevate our API voices, and highlight the stories of our community.

California has given rise to so many important voices that have changed our state and nation for the better — folks like Representatives Ted Lieu, Judy Chu, & Ro Khanna, Controller Betty Yee, California State Treasurer Fiona Ma and countless others.

These elected leaders, alongside activists and community leaders, are bridging national divides with a 21st century economic vision for new jobs, bold ideas, and healthcare for all.

That’s why this month, we (the API and Filipino Caucuses, CYD API Caucus, and CDP Secretary Jenny Bach) are teaming up to celebrate API Heritage Month!

It’s critical that we continue to uplift and support API communities. That's especially true as hate crimes against the API community are on the rise, exacerbated by the racist language coming out of the Trump administration.

Over the next two weeks, we'll be sharing more stories of our API leadership across Twitter

Please join us, and happy API Heritage Month!

Melissa Ramoso, CDP API Caucus Chair
Nicole Villaruz, CDP Filipino Caucus Chair
Faith Lee, CYD API Caucus Chair
Jenny Bach, CDP Secretary
