I’ve been the City’s chief accountability officer for nearly three years.

John,

This week, my office released our annual report on the state of the City’s economy in 2024 — and our analysis of the Mayor’s Office revealed some troubling findings.

The Adams Administration continues to under-budget $3 billion annually on expenditures they know will be larger — like NYPD overtime costs — but simultaneously inflated projections for asylum seeker services by millions of dollars.

For two years, the Mayor consistently cried wolf that the City would go broke because of asylum seeker costs, when in reality that total spending on asylum seekers will be lower than assumed by $1.35 billion.

The TLDR: With his budget gimmicks, Mayor Adams is creating more fiscal issues for our city — all while scapegoating migrants for the problems he’s creating.

Look, John, New Yorkers deserve more honesty all around — more honest budgeting, a more honest City Hall, and a more honest mayor.

As NYC Comptroller, I’ve been the City’s chief accountability officer for nearly three years. And I have a long track record of delivering for New Yorkers. Now, I’m more ready than ever to bring that expertise and transparency to the mayor’s office.

Please consider kicking a few bucks to my campaign for mayor to help New York City finally get the honest leadership we deserve:
