Dear John,
While there were moments of frustration this week, I continued the work to promote our values, strengthen our economy, and support rural communities as we closed out the 118th Congress.
House Republicans passed a stopgap bill to clear the decks for the incoming Trump administration. The measure will keep the government funded through March 14, deliver over $100 billion in U.S. disaster relief, and provide economic assistance for farmers. Shamefully, Democrats used the week to spin lies and theatrics. They pushed a fake narrative that Republicans wanted to furlough workers, alluded to Elon Musk being a “shadow president,” and even accused us of blocking children’s cancer research funding even though we passed it in March (H.R. 3391). From pediatric cancer funds to the Farm Bill to border security, House Republicans delivered solutions for our country, and Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats blocked them. This is why voters rejected Schumer’s failed leadership and elected a Republican Senate majority. My colleagues and I are looking forward to working with a Senate willing to deliver results that put the American people first.
It is about time we recognize the bald eagle as the national bird of the United States of America and I’m honored to support legislation to do it. With one of the largest eagle populations in the country, Minnesota shares a special bond with our powerful symbol of freedom. The bill, backed by Republicans and Democrats alike, cleared the House this week and awaits President Biden’s signature.
As always, thank you for your continued support. If you ever have any questions or if my office can be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
