John,

Is there one single road map to building political power? Probably not.

And even if there was, our opponents — those who are either actively hurting or ignoring the needs of our communities — are always adjusting.

In order to defeat them, we need to be flexible. We need to think big. We need to get prepared.

The Working Families Party is building an independent, progressive political party. One that is accountable to the people, not corporations. One that is rooted in workers’ organizations and grassroots community groups, and with strong ties to social movements. One with a multi-racial base of working class members across the country that can take on the power of big money entrenched in the two-party system — and win.

John, will you take the next step and join us for our National WFP Welcome Gathering on Thursday, May 28th at 7pm ET/4pm PT? Come learn how, together, we are building the political power we NEED to meet this historic moment and win the liberation of our people and our planet.

In election after election, for decade after decade, we have seen how the two-party system tries to keep the ruling class in power and keep the rest of us locked out. But at the Working Families Party, we have found ways to crack their code.

It is not always glamorous, but year after year in local elections we have been building the grassroots base of activists and electing movement candidates that we will need as part of any winning strategy.

Take Kendra Brooks in Philadelphia. A community organizer, she ran an insurgent campaign last year on the WFP ballot line that kicked a Republican off the Philadelphia city council. Rather than support her, the leadership of the local Democratic Party threatened her and her supporters. But together, we reached tens of thousands of voters and built a winning coalition that placed the first third party candidate on the city council in over a century.

That's just one example of the hundreds of WFP candidates we elect every year.

It does not happen overnight. There is no one roadmap to get there. But at the Working Families Party, we have been fighting, learning, and winning for years.

Now we're inviting you to join us in this struggle. Stake your claim. Join us for the next WFP Welcome Gathering to learn what you can do — right now — in your community and nationwide.

It will take all of us to turn our political system on its head and to win for our communities. Whether you are new to politics, or you are seasoned political veteran — we welcome you to this fight.

In struggle and power,

The Working Families Party
