Dear JOHN,Â
Â
As this year comes to a close and my time in Congress wraps up, I wanted to thank you again for your steadfast support and friendship throughout the years. I will be forever grateful and honored to have been Washington’s 5th Congressional District’s voice in Congress for the last twenty years. It is the veterans, the farmers, the small business owners, and the hardworking families throughout Eastern Washington who have been my inspiration each and every day.
Â
During my time in leadership, as the House Republican Conference Chair, and then as Chair of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, I’ve had the distinct honor of seeing the best of Eastern Washington and the United States of America.  I’m thankful to each one of you - for joining me in this fight, for supporting my efforts and for doing what you do, day in and day out, in your businesses, in your communities and in your families.  Continuing this blessing of America takes all of us and I’m grateful to have gotten to know you and worked together to preserve it.
Â
Please know, our work does not stop here.  We are in the midst of a battle for the future of this country. I promise you that while I will no longer be serving in Congress -- I will continue that fight. What’s at stake is too important – we must continue to strive for that more perfect union; to be that shining city on the hill and to be a beacon of hope for people all over the world.
Â
As I head home to be with my beautiful family and figure out what is next, I look forward to staying in touch along the way.  In the meantime, we wanted to share our holiday card commemorating this amazing journey.Â
Â
Again, thank you for everything. Â May God bless you and your families and may he continue to bless the United States of America. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Â
Gratefully,
|
