John, I'm incredibly grateful to NowThis News for highlighting my candidacy and our campaign yesterday.

As an ER doctor, I saw countless families struggle with heart-wrenching decisions. Too many must weigh how to spend time with a loved one in the hospital while also working a second or third job to cover medical expenses. Too many fear even going to the hospital when ill or injured because of the daunting cost of medical bills.

This suffering will be compounded for millions of Americans -- and the valuable progress we have made in recent years would be reversed -- if Republicans like David Schweikert got their way and overturned the Affordable Care Act.

When I saw them vote again and again to cut health insurance for twenty million Americans and remove protections for pre-existing conditions, I knew that my community needed a real voice to fight for them. We needed someone who'd use facts and data to put people first.

Today, the Affordable Care Act remains at risk thanks to a lawsuit brought by Republicans -- a lawsuit David Schweikert is proud to support. In the face of constant threats to the ACA, it's critical that we have more qualified voices on healthcare policy at the federal level. Now, more than ever, we must protect and expand our care.
