John,
Republicans are still trying to expand the 2017 Trump tax scam legislation. According to the Congressional Budget Office, doing so would cost $4.6 trillion. You might be wondering how Congressional Republicans are planning on offsetting those costs — the answer? By taking away health care from millions of Americans by making sweeping cuts to Medicaid.
That’s right. They’re planning on giving trillions of dollars in additional tax cuts to ultra-wealthy individuals and corporations. To do that, they want to cut funding for Medicaid, food stamps, and other vital social safety net programs. Millions of Americans rely on these programs for necessary support. In fact, nearly 80 million people nationwide are enrolled in Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)―the very programs Republicans are ready to obliterate.
Sign on now: Demand that Congress stand up for Americans and reject cuts to Medicaid. You work for the American people, not multi-billion dollar corporations.
Republicans are not playing around about this. Project 2025, the Republican Study Committee proposed budget for FY2025, and many House and Senate Republican leaders have openly called for drastic cuts to Medicaid.
Making the Trump-era tax cuts permanent would cost $288.5 billion in the first year. 63% of that would go to the top 20% of earners and only 1% to the poorest 5th of Americans. We cannot allow Congress to extend these tax breaks to line the pockets of their wealthy friends and donors by taking healthcare away from millions of everyday Americans.
Congress must do everything whatever it takes to protect Medicaid and vital social safety net programs.
Sign on: Congress must reject Republicans’ attempts to Medicaid to fund more tax cuts for the rich and corporations.
Thank you,
Democratic Values
