John,
In his second presidency, Donald Trump plans to deport millions of immigrants — and potentially their U.S. citizen family members — using a xenophobic law from the 1790s.
The rarely used Alien Enemies Act (AEA) is an outdated war-time law that could let the Trump administration detain and deport people without regard for human rights or basic due process. This is the same law used to justify the internment of Japanese, German, and Italian immigrants during World War II — a horrific chapter in U.S. history that we cannot allow the far right to repeat.
But Justice Democrats incumbent Rep. Ilhan Omar is fighting back.
Ilhan introduced a new bill alongside Senator Mazie Hirono called The Neighbors Not Enemies Act, which would repeal this law once and for all, effectively stopping Trump’s mass deportation machine.
This law was always unjust, and it’s time to repeal it before Trump can use it to tear countless families apart in 2025.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
