ACLU Supporter, we've got a long road ahead of us.

With President-elect Trump returning to office, it is more important than ever for the ACLU to keep showing up for all of our rights – to fight for immigrants' rights, abortion rights, trans justice, and more in the new year.

We're giving you a peek into our road map for the coming year by sharing five of our key priorities for 2025 – and then we want your input.

Our priorities for 2025 as we prepare for a second Trump administration:

* Even as a big election year comes to a close, our work to protect voting rights will not slow down. During his first term, Trump and his allies attempted to disenfranchise millions, suppress the right to vote, and limit voting access by advancing anti-voter policies – and when he promises to do so again, we take those threats seriously.

Our lawyers are ready to go to court to block efforts to undermine our electoral process. If President Trump uses the president's authority to weaponize false narratives to silence voters, we'll take him to court to expose the lies. If President Trump attempts to intimidate election workers, we'll use the courts to protect their duty and our right to vote.

* The overturning of Roe v. Wade and the resulting abortion bans in more than a dozen states are the direct result of the first Trump administration's actions. At the ACLU, we're gearing up to fight in the courts and at every level of government to block a second Trump administration's relentless assault on reproductive rights.

We're ready to go to court to challenge the Trump administration's dangerous attacks on reproductive freedom, including any attempts to ban abortion nationwide or to take medication abortion off the shelves, as well as taking action to protect access to birth control and family planning services for all.

* From President Trump's attempts to make schools less safe for transgender students to his relentless attacks on trans people's health care during his 2024 campaign, the devastating legacy on LGBTQ rights is clear.

We're ready to thwart any attempts to restrict the rights of transgender people from accessing necessary health care and any attempts to undermine a transgender person's ability to live their lives free of discrimination. We'll fight to block the Trump administration from weakening discrimination protections across the federal government for LGBTQ people and to shut down efforts to mandate discrimination at the state and local levels.

* Free speech is a foundational value. In the coming year, we're preparing to provide legal defense to whistleblowers, critics, and protestors who dare to go up against the Trump administration's policies. We will urge people to exercise the right to protest so that any government overreach is met with the direct power of the people. We'll mobilize our supporters against any bill that threatens to stifle our free speech rights. And we will go to court to stop efforts to retaliate against dissenters or efforts that seek to silence them.

* For months, Donald Trump has promised to pursue even more extreme anti-immigrant policies if he wins a second term. When he does, the ACLU is prepared to hold our executive branch to account. We will not allow President-elect Trump to disregard fundamental principles of democracy and the rule of law to devastate immigrant communities and erode freedoms for all people.

We'll fight at every level to stop mass deportations and stop widespread detention. We have already sued ICE and demanded more information on exactly how mass deportation could be used and expanded under the Trump administration. We're working with states and localities to ensure state resources are not used to carry out draconian, anti-immigrant policies. And, if Trump sends a bill to Congress attempting to end asylum, we'll mobilize our supporters nationwide to stop it.

But, ACLU Supporter, that's just the start. We're so grateful to the lawyers, activists, organizers, and supporters like you who fuel this work in all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico – and as we look to the new year, we continue our pledge to always show up to protect all our rights.

Please, will you take just 60 seconds to share your 2025 civil liberties priorities with the ACLU? It will greatly help inform our work in the coming year. <[link removed]>
