Hi there,

As 2024 draws to a close, we hope you are able to rest, recharge, and get ready for the fights ahead of us. The holiday season is often a time to reflect on the year behind us and set goals for the one ahead of us, and we’d like to end the year by sharing the following key takeaways:

- The work you did in the 2024 cycle had a tangible, meaningful impact. Despite national losses, Swing Left channeled grassroots volunteer and donor energy at scale in key swing races up and down the ballot—narrowing the GOP majority in Congress and achieving critical wins for Democrats in state-level races.
- Long-term, on-the-ground organizing works and is the path forward. In places where the Swing Left community invested time and money, Democrats performed better. Our target races saw a smaller rightward shift than the national average.
- Swing Left continues to be one of the most effective organizations in the Democratic ecosystem. Your time and money went to support the tightest, tipping point races. For example, 95% of our House targets and 100% of our Senate targets were decided by single-digit margins—and we won the majority of those races. We won many of these races because of your work—your margin of effort.

Whether it was knocking doors, making phone calls, writing letters, donating, or some combination of those actions, the work you put in was important and meaningful. Together, this community raised $25 million, knocked on 1.6 million doors, made 3.8 million calls, and wrote more than 11 million Vote Forward letters. Critically, these dollars helped to win races on the margins, by just a few thousand or a few hundred votes.

And while we didn’t get to the outcomes we wished for, we’re entering a Congress with the tightest House majority in 100 years. That’s because of the work you did. Here are a few examples of what this community accomplished in some of the closest races in the country:

- Rep.-elect Adam Gray (CA-13) unseated the GOP incumbent by just 187 votes*. In his race, Swing Left donors and volunteers knocked 127.9K doors, wrote 43.3K letters, and raised $197,488.
- Rep.-elect Derek Tran (CA-45) won his election by just 653 votes*. In his race, Swing Left donors and volunteers knocked on 13.5K doors, wrote 65.6K letters, and raised $335,000.
- Sen. Jacky Rosen (NV) won her election by 1.7%. In her race, Swing Left donors and volunteers knocked on 225.7K doors, wrote 475K letters, and raised $498,400.
- In North Carolina, Democrats won each of the major executive offices: governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general. And Democrats broke the Republican supermajority in the state’s legislative body, the general assembly. In the Tarheel State, Swing Left donors and volunteers knocked on 23.7K doors, wrote 1.2 million letters, and raised $477,000.

*As of 12/20/2024.

Moving forward, our top two priorities in 2025 and 2026 are winning power in the states and winning back the House. To achieve that, Swing Left is doubling down on our approach of “early, often, and sustained” grassroots engagement and infrastructure. These elections will be here before we know it, and by the time the national spotlight turns to the next high-stakes races, we know this community will be ready, organized, and mobilized.

Thank you for everything you did this year. When we work together, we can accomplish what feels impossible alone.

Happy Holidays!
The Swing Left Team
