Friend,

As we come to the end of the 118th Congress, I am reflecting on all we have accomplished, together, for Iowans.

During this Congress, I made over 200 district visits on my 22 County Tour, connecting with Iowans in their daily lives - visiting farms, manufacturing lines, veterans’ organizations, and small businesses across our district. 

I have also hosted an in-person town hall in every county in our district so that I can hear directly from you, answer your questions, and hear about your priorities. I've hosted 42 in-person town halls since taking office, and will continue to be available and accessible to you.

After hearing from Iowans across the district, it's clear: the best policies come from Iowa to DC – not the other way around. 

I’ve taken Iowans’ stories and perspectives back with me to Congress - turning Iowans’ feedback about the economy, border, and agriculture into legislative action, and working every single day to make Washington, D.C. run more like Iowa. 

I’ve led initiatives to: 

• Prevent China from owning U.S. farmland 
• Stop woke indoctrination in our schools and military 
• Hold the Biden Administration accountable for opening our southern border 
• End Prop 12 and stand up for Iowa producers
• Protect key tax cuts for small businesses and families 

As a Member of the Appropriations Committee, I’ve proposed significant fiscal reforms to slash agency budgets and wasteful spending while still bringing home key investments to our district. I brought home over $27 million in federal funding for local projects to expand clean drinking water access, improve child care for working families, and bolster maternal health care. 

While I have stood strong against the nonsense coming out of the Biden Administration, I also found common ground to deliver on common sense priorities. 

This Congress, the House passed my bipartisan legislation to expand mental health care access for members of law enforcement, as well as, my bipartisan bill to hold China accountable for tariff evasion to protect American workers. My legislation to prevent the tragedy of stillbirths was signed into law so that we can have more healthy moms and healthy babies in Iowa. 

As a mom of two boys, I understand the current challenges that other Iowa moms are facing after four years of failed leadership under President Biden. And I am on a mission to ensure my kids… and yours… have all of the opportunities this great country can offer. While I’m proud of what we accomplished in divided government, I couldn’t be more excited to work with President Trump to make America Great Again in just a few short weeks.

Helping Iowans Navigate Working With Federal Agencies

My team and I closed 3,495 federal cases including helping Iowans verify legal immigration status to maintain their Social Security and Medicare benefits, assisting Iowa veterans with receiving the medals earned during their service to our nation, working with the IRS to ensure retired Iowans were able to receive their full tax refunds, and assisting with expedited passport services to help Iowans travel abroad for family milestones.

Reinvesting In Rural Iowa Communities

Reinvesting your taxpayer dollars back into our communities is my top priority as a Member of the House Appropriations Committee. In the 118th Congress, I am proud to have brought back $27,762,000 in federal investments to expand access to quality child care, maternal health care, quality drinking water for Iowa residents, and flood mitigation efforts across Iowa’s Second District. Check out a few highlights:

• $5,000,000 for Hawkeye Community College Smart Automation and Robotics Center. This facility will be a manufacturing hub in Waterloo where students and workers can gain skills in a fast-tracked program.
• $750,000 for Sumner Daycare and Learning Center to construct their own stand-alone facility in the community to provide quality, accessible child care.
• $1,100,000 for the Gundersen-Palmer Lutheran Hospital to expand its facilities and improve access to maternal care for expecting women and their babies.
• $8,000,000 for Dubuque Flood Mitigation Gates and Pumps to support the City of Dubuque’s disaster mitigation efforts, which are crucial to the Mississippi River community’s safety and security.

Prioritizing Accessibility and Transparency for Iowans

I will always prioritize transparency and accessibility for Iowans. I held an in-person town hall meeting in every county – that's 22 if you're keeping track! – and 15 virtual town halls to answer Iowans’ questions over the course of this Congress and I look forward to keeping these conversations going in the new year!

Additionally, I completed eight 22 County Tours across Iowa’s Second District where I met with Iowans from all walks of life including farmers, manufacturers, small business owners, child care providers, health care workers, and working parents.
