We’re proud to be your source for fact-checked and fearless reporting. As an independent newsroom, you can count on us to ask questions that need to be asked, regardless of who’s in power. We don’t report to an owner or shareholders — we report to and for you. Protect this source of public knowledge; make your gift of support today.
PublicSource is among select local newsrooms that have worked with the Baltimore Banner and the New York Times to analyze the overdose crisis in the U.S. Mortality data assembled by the Banner and the Times shows older Black men are hit hardest by the crisis in large counties across the nation, including Allegheny County. Our story dives into the data, shares insights from experts and elevates the voices of those who have been harmed by overdose.

Also, PublicSource's staff is off from Dec. 24 through Jan. 1. While we are on break, you'll still get newsletters next Thursday, next Saturday and Jan. 2, when we’re back in action. Happy Holidays!
