We only send this kind of email once a year, but it’s one of the most important…

I’ll cut to the chase John. Positive Money relies on funding from trusts and foundations, and donations from ordinary people like you, to do what we do. And we need more money to ramp up the pressure on those in power

If everyone reading this email chipped in just a few pounds today, we could take our plans for 2025 to a new level. So, if you can, please make a donation this Christmas because whether it’s big or small, it all makes a difference.

Positive Money wouldn’t exist without people like you John. Because what we do - producing detailed research reports, drafting government consultation papers and MP briefings, giving media interviews, running digital campaigns and turning up outside the Treasury with giant pockets stuffed with fake banknotes and Rachel Reeves and Keir Starmer cardboard cutouts - all just costs quite a lot of money. [1] And you make it possible.

Supporter donations - no matter the amount - are a real lifeboat. Unlike big project grants which are scoped out months in advance, supporter donations are known as ‘unrestricted funds’. This means we have the freedom to spend them on what we need, when we need it.

They mean we can react to unexpected moments (like a general election that arrives months earlier than anyone predicted!) or use funds for internal projects that we really need but aren’t sexy for crowdfunders (like building a brand new website or training our small team). But this freedom comes with a cost.

That’s why I’m asking if you can help this Christmas John, by donating a couple of lifeboats for 2025 - because who knows what storms lie ahead.

I know times are tough, and there’s lots of reasons people can’t chip in, but if you are someone who can, and you’d like to help make our campaigns possible next year, then there’s no better time to give than the present 🎁

Thank you, as always, for your support,

Hannah, Positive Money
