Elephants in Tanzania are being murdered in cold blood by rich hunters—but
the US Government could help stop this. The States are the BIGGEST
importer of elephant body parts in the world. If no-one's buying elephant
trophies, there’s no reason for them to be hunted.
Tell the US to ban imports of elephant body parts!

John,
‘Super-tusker’ elephants are being hunted and killed for sport in
Tanzania. After these magnificent animals are murdered, their heads, tusks
and hides are divided up and shipped out for profit and gloating by rich
hunters.
The single biggest importer of elephant parts is the US. At the start of
this year they tightened the regulations on importing elephant trophies
but stopped short of a full ban.
If the US properly bans the importation of elephant parts, the demand will
drop massively, helping the Tanzanian Government feel the heat to stop
handing out the hunting permits and protect these majestic creatures for
good.

elephant body parts.
Elephants are incredibly social and intelligent animals. They’ve even been
observed grieving. After one was killed, other elephants visited to pay
their respects, mourning and gently touching his body with their trunks.
At least five super-tuskers have been slaughtered since the government of
Tanzania started selling permits to kill these irreplaceable creatures to
the highest bidders (permits cost up to $60,000 per year!). Now fewer than
10 super-tuskers remain – and if we don’t act, they could soon be wiped
out.
Elephants are already protected from trophy hunting in Kenya, so now we
just need neighbouring Tanzania to stop handing out permits for hunting.
Let’s build up pressure from all over the world so the US moves from its
half-hearted regulation to a FULL import ban!
[ [link removed] ]Call on the US Government to protect elephants and ban importing
elephant trophies.
Public pressure has already resulted in a game-changing elephant ivory ban
in China and near total ban in the US. Now, let’s do it again and protect
elephants from being slaughtered for sport in Tanzania.
