Sac DSA is hosting our annual end of the year/holiday/winter shindig at one of our favorite breweries! ?Join us as we eat, drink, and celebrate our year of hard work. ?Or come to meet some comrades, or just to unwind after our busy year of electoral, mutual aid, and labor organizing. Don't forget to RSVP! We look forward to seeing you, comrade.

Mutual Aid Distribution Monday, December 23rd - Cesar Chavez Plaza (Corner of I Street and 10th Street)

?

Our Mutual Aid Committee will be serving hot meals and necessary supplies to our unhoused neighbors and we can always use more help. ?We're collecting warm clothes, tents, tarps, blankets, and any winter camping supplies that might be needed. ?Dropoffs can be made at the distribution site or possibly arranged beforehand. ?

Candlelight Vigil For Our Unhoused Neighbors, Saturday, December 21st, 6:30 PM?

@ Cesar Chavez Plaza (Corner of I Street and 10th Street)

?

The Sacramento Regional Coalition to End Homelessness will be conducting its annual vigil to honor those we have lost on the streets this past year. ?As the state fails us, we must come together and act as the community that we are. ?We will not let those whom the city and county failed be forgotten!

CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Local Convention held, New Steering Committee Elected
    • As many of you are already aware, November 23rd marked the date of our chapter's annual convention. ?Our chapter discussed several projects from the past year, voted to amend our bylaws and create an official electoral endorsement process, and more. ?After the convention's conclusion, we elected our new steering committe officers for the 2025 term via a week-long online vote and managed by outgoing steering committee members. ?The new officers began meeting in early December and are already well at work for the new year.

  • Dr. Flo Cofer Defeated, McCarty Takes Office
    • Sadly, our endorsed candidate for Mayor Dr. Flo Cofer, lost her election by a very tight margin. ?The good news is despite her loss, Flo remains a powerhouse of influence for the working class in Sacramento, and her base is still motivated, ready to take action. This race was one of the closest in Sacramento's history, as Kevin McCarty won by less than 2000 votes and the final vote count was not completed until a month after Election Day. ?This was such a close victory, and our members knocked on so many doors and had so many conversations that the only thing that ended was the election, the fight however is far from over!

COMMUNITY EVENTS / NEWS:

  • City Manager HOWARD CHAN Is Sh*T Out Of Luck!
    • Howard Chan, AKA Sacramento's deplorable city manager, suffered a major loss this month, which means Sac's working class won a major victory! ?The City Council, in the second week of their new term, voted 6-3 NOT to continue Mr. Chan's contract. ?Howard Chan used his position to take out personal vendettas against community organizers who dared to challenge his atrocious policies and conduct, including friends of SacDSA. ?He also belittled the Black Lives Matter Movement by ignoring their demands and throwing piles of money at our already over-budgeted police, not to mention it was under his tenure that our unhoused neighbors' suffering only got worse. ?Despite his obvious incompetence, our city made him one of the highest-paid city managers in the state for several years. ?But no longer, HOWARD CHAN'S LAST DAY AS SAC CITY MANAGER WILL BE DEC. 31st! ?Now we must take action to ensure the city doesn't fumble and pick an even worse replacement. ?BYE HOWARD! You won't be missed.
