Dear John,

We hope that this last week of Ramadan is strengthening your faith and your families. Now months into the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen the impact that inequitable, insufficient public policies have on communities across the country, including our own. MPAC has continued working to give American Muslims a voice in the halls of Congress to impact legislation, to address the rising threat of white supremacy, to improve security of houses of worship, and to advocate for human security in this crisis that is causing so much suffering and hardship.

In just the past year, MPAC:

  • Brought the Chairman of the Islamic Center of Southern California (ICSC), Omar Ricci, to testify at a hearing of the House Oversight Committee on the effects that white supremacy has on American Muslim communities.
  • Published the report The White Supremacist Threat to America, proposing five policy steps to counter the violent movement, and hosted a forum with Congressman Adam Schiff where he called the report “a must read”.
  • Informed DHS through an interfaith task force on strategies to protect houses of worship by advocating for community-based solutions.
  • Built a coalition around our Human Security Campaign which calls for racial and socioeconomic equity in healthcare, employment, and criminal justice policies, now and in all future legislation.
  • Held a discussion at Zaytuna College to reassert the importance of collective engagement as a tool for social change.
  • Hosted the webinar series, Coping in Quarantine, to provide opportunities for the American Muslim community to pull a seat up at the table with influencers in both Congress, civil society, and the creative industry.
The work of MPAC is an instrument to establish the Islamic values of equity and justice in our society. It is only because of you that we are able to do this critical work. This Ramadan, consider making MPAC part of your annual zakat giving with a $150 gift!

We are so grateful for your support as we continue this work in incredibly trying times, when it is more important than ever.
