An Update on the Potential Elon Musk-Led Government Shutdown

Dear Mr. John xxxxxx,

I wanted to provide you with an important update from Washington. Government funding runs out tonight – and Congress must act quickly to meet the needs of working families and provide disaster relief across the country.

Sadly, Elon Musk has other plans. The world’s richest man, and someone no one has elected to anything, has ordered House Republicans to shut down the government. Musk’s goals are simple: He wants to pave the way for huge new tax breaks for himself and other billionaire insiders. And the endgame for Musk and House Republicans is to make seniors and veterans foot the bill with cuts to Social Security and health care.

A government shutdown will have real consequences for the American people, especially during the holiday season. Over 420,000 people in Florida will lose access to vital food assistance. It will force over 100,000 active-duty service members in Florida to go without pay. And a Musk Shutdown will also make airport security and air traffic control work without pay, meaning longer lines and more delays as families travel.

I came to Washington to represent you – not an unelected billionaire or his friends in Silicon Valley and on Wall Street. I am ready to work with anyone at any time to keep the government open, deliver critical disaster relief, and meet the needs of hardworking American taxpayers.

I am urging House Republicans to stop taking Elon Musk’s orders and work with Democrats to deliver for the American people and stop a shutdown. You deserve nothing less. Please follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to stay updated ahead of a Musk Shutdown. And, as always, please feel free to contact my office to share your thoughts.
