This week, a horrific shooting rocked a Madison, Wisconsin, school [[link removed]] . Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway has been working overtime to ensure the families impacted have the support and resources they need in this difficult time. U.S. Congressman Mark Pocan, who represents Madison, also led the U.S. House in a moment of silence to honor the victims [[link removed]] .
Election Day Wrapped
It took some time, but all our candidates have results in their 2024 campaigns! Of Victory Fund’s 511 endorsed candidates on the ballot this year, 357 officially WON their campaigns. Read all about the results for our endorsed candidates here [[link removed]] !
Several states – led by LGBTQ+ elected officials in the state legislatures – succeeded in placing marriage equality and abortion on the ballot [[link removed]] , overturning and removing existing language [[link removed]] . Both issues proved to be winning topics! Voters in California, Colorado, and Hawaii removed anti-marriage equality language [[link removed]] , while New York passed a measure protecting both abortion rights and equal protections [[link removed]] .
And finally, after attempting to deny election results, Tammy Baldwin’s opponent conceded defeat [[link removed]] . Though ultimately unsuccessful, Senator Baldwin worked hard to remove anti-trans language from the National Defense Authorization Act [[link removed]] , which now heads to President Biden’s desk [[link removed]] .

The race for California’s new Governor is already underway, and we’re proud to be supporting California State Senator Toni Atkins [[link removed]] ! A longtime legislator and member of the Victory Fund community [[link removed]] , Senator Atkins has fought for LGBTQ+ rights and reproductive rights her entire career. As Victory Fund President & CEO Mayor Annise Parker told The Advocate , “Toni Atkins is really the embodiment of the work that Victory Fund’s been doing over the past more than 30 years.” [[link removed]]
If elected, Toni would become the state’s first out LGBTQ+ Governor and the first woman elected to the position [[link removed]] !
