City of Marion Awarded Funding for Downtown Revitalization
|
The city of Marion was recently awarded $850,000 in funding through Indiana's READI 2.0 program in support of the $10.8 million development to Marion's downtown riverfront district.
The funds will be used to support the River Rock Lofts mixed-use development center in downtown Marion. River Rock Lofts will create a 44 one- and two- bedroom apartment complex with 3,300 sq. ft. of commercial space and a public plaza.
I am glad to see the city of Marion receive this well-deserved funding as it provides even more support for the city's efforts to develop a close-knit, walkable downtown area for residents to enjoy.

Drive Safe this Winter
|
With the arrival of winter weather in Indiana, road conditions are likely to become a factor in our daily commutes to work, taking kids to school and running errands.
During a winter weather event, snowplows will be out to clear snow and ice from roadways.
The Indiana Department of Transportation asks motorists to
follow these safety measures when driving near a snowplow.
- Give plows room to work.
- Be patient, as snowplows travel below the posted speed limit.
- Keep an eye out — while you may see snowplows, they may not always see you.
When winter weather hits, motorists are asked to clear snow and ice from your car, inspect your vehicle, leave plenty of time to reach your destination and keep a basic survival kit in your car with items like winter travel gear, ice scraper/snow brush, jumper cables and road flares.

Attention Local Students: Page for the Indiana Senate
Through the full-day program, students in grades six through 12 have the opportunity to tour Indiana's Statehouse, including an executive branch office, listen to debates from the Senate floor, help staff with age-appropriate tasks, and meet their state senator.
The Senate Page Program begins in January and will run through early April. Positions fill quickly, so it's important to apply early.
