Together in 2024, we made a lifesaving impact for cats and kittens through:
Fearless advocacy, including in court. In a major victory,
Alley Cat Allies’ legal efforts and refusal to back down forced the United States National Park Service (NPS) to agree to halt movement on its cruel plan to eradicate community cats living on the San Juan National Historic Site in Puerto Rico. And, in Ohio, an Alley Cat Allies’ amicus brief helped inform a critical Ohio Supreme Court decision to protect all cats—including community cats—as companion animals. This is a major victory for cats throughout the state, and ensures community cats are protected equally under animal cruelty laws.
Supporting lifesaving community resources for cats. Working with and providing our expertise and leadership to communities across the nation, Alley Cat Allies supported critical veterinary care—including Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) for community cats—for thousands of cats and kittens. In Atlantic County, New Jersey, alone, our recent initiative with the county humane society is helping hundreds of cats every day with veterinary care, TNR, and the operation of a community cat food bank that’s the first of its kind in the state.
Disaster response. We acted swiftly to help cats in South Carolina and Florida after this year’s devastating hurricanes, providing veterinary care, food, and other critical supplies.
Veterinarian Training. We kicked off our new Veterinarian Training Program™️ (Alley Cat Allies Veterinarian Training Program™️) to teach veterinarians and veterinary students the right techniques to protect community cats, including high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter and humane TNR techniques. With your support, we’re growing the future of our movement to protect all cats and kittens, whether they call the outdoors or indoors home.
