Recently I asked NYC high school students who had just completed our student reporter internship, CLARIFY, what they had learned, and their responses might surprise you:
“I feel way more confident emailing public officials and people in power.”
“It made me a lot braver. I feel more confident sharing my ideas.”
“I can handle close deadlines now without feeling overwhelmed.”
“I write with more clarity and was able to do better on the SAT than I expected.”
Recognizing the vital role the next generation has in building robust communities, City Limits developed CLARIFY, (City Limits Accountability Reporting Initiative For Youth) to help NYC students develop important career readiness skills, find their voice, build confidence, and engage with their communities all through the lens of public service journalism.
Our goal is to give as many young people as possible the opportunity to enroll in CLARIFY, especially those most impacted most by housing insecurity. We need your support to do that. Your donation goes towards expenses like:
$250 MTA Subway pass for a student to attend the summer session
$500 Stipend for a student’s fall semester internship
$2500 Full year of participation for one high school student
As an independent, nonprofit newsroom, this year-end funding drive is critical. Will you help us provide NYC high school students a paid internship by donating today? Your tax- deductible gift will be matched up to $1000 if we receive it by December 31, 2024. It’s a great opportunity to double your impact on the future of a NYC high school student, and on ours.
