As we near the end of 2024, I’ve been thinking about both the highs and lows of this year. One of the highs is your unwavering support for and engagement with our movement. I’m humbled by your dedication, John.
While the major outcomes of last month’s elections are not what we hoped for, I want to remind you of all that we accomplished together this year. Under the leadership of President Biden and Democrats in Congress, we’ve taken steps to improve the lives of millions of Americans:
* Addressing the Climate Crisis: Historic investments in clean energy positioned our nation as a global leader in lowering emissions and combating climate change while creating thousands of green jobs and lowering Americans’ energy costs in the process.

* Lower Prescription Drug Costs: Medicare now has the power to negotiate lower prices for lifesaving medications, which will save millions of Americans thousands of dollars each year.
*
* Preventing Gun Violence: We enacted the first new gun-safety measures in decades, including expanding commonsense background checks, which will make our communities and schools safer.
*
* Student Debt Forgiveness: Thanks to the Biden Administration doling out $175 billion in student loan forgiveness, millions of borrowers have seen relief, opening the door to greater economic opportunity.
*
* Economic Growth: Inflation has eased, wages have risen, tens of millions of new jobs have been added, millions of new business applications have been submitted, and over 1 million pensions have been protected. American families are beginning to feel the benefits of Democrats’ policies that put people over politics.
On a personal note, I was deeply humbled to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom this year, an honor I share with all of you who have stood with me in the fight for justice, equity, and opportunity for all.

Of course, there are challenges ahead of us and we must be prepared. Project 2025 -- the GOP plan to dismantle federal agencies and reverse our progress -- and Trump’s extreme cabinet picks reveal just how far Trump and his allies are willing to go.
