Happy Friday! This week, huge investments have been announced to improve healthcare and public transportation access in the Second District. I will continue to deliver on issues that matter to you, regardless of the House Republican’s disorder.

$1B Investment Towards South Side Healthcare

There is a 30-year life expectancy gap between someone who lives on the South Side and someone who lives on the North Side. 

Advocate Health Care recently announced that it will invest $1 billion towards a new health model developed by and for South Side residents. It will improve access to primary care, preventative services, and establish a brand new hospital right here in the Second District.

This investment will help close the health disparities faced by Black and Brown communities in the South Side of Chicago.

CTA Secures $1.9B in Funding for Red Line Extension

The CTA has fulfilled the promise of its long-awaited Red Line extension. New stations will be added all the way down to 130th Street. It will mark the first CTA station in the Second District.

This $1.9 billion investment will provide direct transportation options downtown for South Side residents. It will increase transit equity for the Second District, while also creating thousands of jobs to provide economic benefits.

Metra's Homewood Station Renovations Completed

Renovation on Metra's Homewood station have just been completed. This $21 million project includes digital arrival times, an ADA-accessible wheelchair ramp, new paint, new lighting, a warming house, and a Pace bus faculty nearby.

Commuters will now have better access between the South Suburbs and the greater Chicago area. Accessibility improvements will also ensure that everyone can safely ride on trains and buses.
