John,

AFGE has been steadfast in our push for immediate action to help protect our members and the public we serve. And, we've won some important victories.

In this week's newsletter we've included important updates and an overview of the actions we've taken in the last week to fight for the health and safety of government employees.

TAKE ACTION ON THE HEROES ACT

AFGE strongly supports the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions (HEROES) Act. It includes many of the priorities AFGE has been pushing for Congress to adopt, most recently in dual letters sent to members of the House and Senate. It would provide federal workers with many of the enhanced protections and benefits that we have been championing.

Now is the time for lawmakers to make this bill a reality!

Call your representative at 1-877-633-9308 and tell them to please support inclusion of the federal employee protections included in the HEROES Act in the next COVID-19 bill!

UPCOMING WEBINAR ON WORKERS' COMPENSATION

Due to the overwhelming demand for information to help members impacted by COVID-19, we’re hosting a webinar series related to workers' compensation. COVID-19: Federal Employees & Workers' Compensation is a 90-minute webinar led by AFGE Workers’ Compensation Specialist Joe Mansour. He will review how members can qualify and apply for workers’ comp if they become ill, and what locals can do to help ensure members’ safety.

UPGRADE YOUR ZOOM CALLS WITH AFGE BACKGROUNDS

The current health crisis has more of us joining meetings, conducting interviews and connecting with our friends and family virtually. This means our camera phones and web cameras are working overtime to keep us connected. We’ve pulled together a few tips to help you navigate video conferencing.

We've also developed a few digital backgrounds that you can use for your next Zoom call. Click the image below to download the backgrounds. Tip: They work best if you don't check the 'I have a green screen' or 'Mirror my video' boxes under the virtual background settings.
