In just 1️⃣ month, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of
the United States.

We won't whitewash it,
John: Trump's election is an
undeniable setback to our progressive movement.

And if Democrats want to retake power in 2026 and beyond, they must
refocus their priorities and energy on rebuilding the diverse,
working-class coalition that powered Democratic victories of the past.

But despite the headwinds we faced, 2024 netted some key wins, including:

* In the battleground state of North Carolina, Democrats broke the GOP's
supermajority in the state legislature. In Pennsylvania, just one seat
stood in the way of Republicans gaining control of the lower house.

* Delaware voters made history by electing the first transgender member
of Congress, Sarah McBride! Once sworn in, Sarah will focus her energy
on bettering the lives of her neighbors — not on GOP-created culture
wars.

* Alaska and Missouri raised their minimum wage in separate ballot
measures, while Missouri also introduced paid sick leave. Pro-worker
policies are popular
John, and these wins show how
progressives can win big even in red states.

* In seven states, voters protected abortion access from anti-choice
extremists.

We're not naive,
John — we know there's a lot
of reckoning and work ahead of us in order to win back working
communities. But hope and optimism are powerful forces on their own.

Before the election, we told you we weren’t going back. And we still mean
that. We’re going to fight like hell to protect our progress from the MAGA
GOP and hold the line to defend our rights and freedoms.

With the right priorities, candidates, and infrastructure, we’ll be able
to deliver bold, transformative change and demonstrate the power of our
collective movement.
